Saturday, May 20 from 6 to 10 p.m.

On Saturday, May 20, visitors to Oakland Cemetery can find artist Sanithna Phansavanh‘s life-sized murals inspired by the Greek myth of Persephone mingled throughout the Victorian gardens. According to mythology, Hades, god of the underworld, kidnapped Persephone to be his queen. Once a year – in spring – Persephone was permitted to visit the land of the living, and upon her return flowers bloomed. Make sure to visit the North Public Grounds to catch performances by music and movement collective Flight of Swallows throughout the evening. Attendees can also enjoy beer, wine, soft drinks and fare from some of Atlanta’s favorite food trucks. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the exhibition closes at 10 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance and $25 at the gate.
